About the Crusade
Overview:
College is a time for young adults to discover who they are and begin to understand what they're capable of. The Crusade is Kappa Alpha Order's total membership development program built to provide undergraduates with educational opportunities throughout their college experience. Based on the Order's customs, The Crusade emphasizes academic excellence, values and ethics, community service, team building and leadership that are beneficial to the active member during his undergraduate years, but also throughout life.
Learning Methods:
Everyone adopts different styles of learning. Some people are hands-on, some people learn through experience and some people learn better in groups. The Crusade program has made every effort to incorporate various, interesting topics and learning methods relating to your fraternal experience and personal development. Some of the program's learning methods include experiential learning, service learning, teambuilding and traditional methods of instruction and scenario-based learning.
Self Governance:
Every mistake is a learning opportunity. The Kappa Alpha Order understands that members of our active chapters make mistakes. We also understand that the lessons learned from those mistakes help form the identities of today's strongest men. We have implemented The Crusade program as a means of supporting the members throughout their college careers and into their adult lives. The Crusade is self-governed with the continued personal pursuit of excellence and honor at the forefront of everything we do.
Benefits:
When you can invest your time and energy into information you are interested in learning, you will typically grow to care more about that information as time moves on. Membership Development is an essential part in furthering the education of our undergraduates to continue our mission and ritual of Kappa Alpha Order. As a member of The Crusade, you will gain a better understanding of our history, laws, customs of the Order, leadership development and career development. As you and your Crusade chapter work together to meet expectations of the program, The Crusade instills functions that will allow you to gain camaraderie with your brothers, establishing bonds that will last throughout your life.
Moving Forward:
Since its inception in 1999, a third of our chapters have successfully adopted The Crusade program. These chapters are excelling scholastically, increasing their philanthropic service, managing their finances more effectively and recruiting and retaining more members. The Crusade has shown that it is an outstanding program helping undergraduates have a better overall experience. The program is the future of Kappa Alpha Order and will continue to grow and further develop leadership opportunities for our undergraduates.
